A Breath Of Fresh Air

Let everything that has breath Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Psalm 150:6 ESV

Good Morning Girlfriends:

A friend on mine called me up one morning asking me if later that afternoon I would like to take a few hours to just get away from the same old mundane housework, as she suggested that we could go on a hike down a trail that she knew about, as she shared that it would be a beautiful view. A few hours later we were off to a unknown place to me, but I knew that my friend would make it an exciting trip with lots of fun. We had to take a small ferry across the waters to get to the place she wanted to show me, which only took about fifteen minutes to get across, about another ten minutes minutes we arrived to our destination as she parked the vehicle in a parking lot just or people who were going on the hike down the mountain.

There was only one other car in the parking lot, so we knew it was going to be a wonderful, quiet walk as we began down the steps to the trail. Along the way, there were several plaques that we read, as it would tell us all about the different kinds of trees that we would see, the different kinds of wild flowers along the path. There was information about the little island that we were on, as well as information about the balancing rock we were about to see at the bottom of the trail. This rock was a huge, tall piece of rock that sat on the very tip of another rock as it gently leaned out over the water. The was another story of how fishermen had tried tying their ropes around this rock to see if they could pull it over, but to no avail the rock could not be budged.

What an amazing view as we stood there looking at this huge rock, that was tilted over the water, and as we took in the view of the hidden place that was all around us. After we made our climb back up the trail, my friend asked me if I wanted to go to the beach and take in some fresh salt water air, and take a few moments to enjoy the view of the ocean. As we sat on a huge piece of drift wood, we inhaled the amazing salt water air, enjoying the relaxation of the beautiful breeze that was blowing, as we listened to the waves that came in, what a breath of fresh air just to sit there and look at the view of the ocean and the blue sky up above us. We were totally blessed to have the beach all to ourselves as we sang songs, walked along the waters edge sticking our feet in the ocean. We were able to find a few pieces of sea glass, a few sea shells as well as little white rocks that I loved to collect.

Girlfriends, that is what we have to do every once in awhile, is to just take some time for ourselves so we can take a deep breath and just breathe. Life can get very hectic, and if we don't take a little breathing time, we feel like we could explode from the pressures of life. That day as we walked the trail in the woods, and sat on the beach, I could see God all around me, the beauty of His splendor that He created. There is nothing like sitting on a beach and listening to the waves as they lap up on the beach, it is such peace, like none other. We need to thank God each day that we are alive, because He holds the very breath that we breathe. (Daniel 5:23) God gave us the breath that we breathe, so we should not take it for granted, as we take a moment to praise Him and thank Him for each day that we have on this earth, because we do not know the length of time we have so we should be very thankful for every moment we have.

Each day that we have on this earth, let's take a deep breath and make it the best day we can for others, that may not be as well off as we are. When the weather is nice, and you have a friend that you can take for a ride to the beach, or a hike on a trail, or just a little drive to look at the scenery, make each moment count and be a blessing.

Precious Jesus, I thank you for the very breath in my lungs, and as long as I have that breath I will give you praise. I will praise you in worship, in song, I will praise you in my heart. If there is any one out there today that is having a hard time to breath, I command those lungs to come open to full capacity and breath the way God created the lungs to breath. Lord, you have given each of us the very breath in our lungs and we cherish each day we have on this earth until that great and final day when you call us home to be forever with you, we will sing praises to you O God, in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
