"But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak, do not with hold your tunic either. Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back. And as you with others would do to you, do so to them. Luke 6:27-31 ESV
Good Morning Girlfriends:
As I was getting into my car this morning to get it warmed up a bit, my hand must have touched something on my phone and put it onto facebook, and this happens often to me without meaning to, there in front of me was my oldest daughters name and a something that she was sharing that happened yesterday. She was in a bookstore, when a lady that she did not know had taken a seizure and had an accident of wetting herself. This stranger felt to share her story with my daughter after the seizure. She, herself loves people but needed to feel love herself, because as she went on to say that she often faces opposition and hostility from other people because is is considered to be a "street leper." This lady, which I will not mention her name, is nearly sixty years old, lives with a fatal brain tumor, she experiences seizures daily which she needs to take medication for. She shared that she is living in the city shelter, no possessions and no place to call her own. After the lady had the seizure, my daughter had bought her some undershirts and underwear that she was in need of.
This dear lady did not receive any help or compassion from the employees who worked at the store, as my daughter continued to reveal the story, this homeless lady had been eyeing a stuffed bunny that she really wanted, the sales clerk asked my daughter if she could afford to buy it for her otherwise they would put it back on the shelf. At that moment my daughter thought to herself, who am I to decide what brings joy to another person who has nothing or a home to call her own. Even though she had already bought the items for this lady that she needed, she said to herself, "who am I to not get her something that would bring her joy.
This lady called my daughter by name as she thanked her by giving her many "air hugs," her love was felt by my daughter, and it blessed her that she was able to bless this dear lady with these few items. As I read her story, tears were flooding my eyes, not just because my daughter had done this most wonderful loving gesture, but for the woman with the brain tumor. I began to pray, alone in my car my voice became louder and louder as I began to curse this brain tumor at the roots and commanded it to die. I fealt the presence of God as I continued to pray for this dear lady, that God would do an all over body healing in her and that He would open doors for her, that someone would come along to find out her desires, her strengths so that a door of opportunity would be opened up for her to find a job and that God would open a door for her in order that she would have her own place to call her own.
Girlfriends, this is what it is all about, as we call ourselves the body of Christ working together to help those in need. I may never meet this lady that my daughter helped, but I pray that God sets it up that my daughter meets her again to hear the good report that I am expecting to hear. I totally believe in the up and above things of God and as we give out to others God will bless us up and above, not that we are looking for it, but because we want to do it. Luke 6:38 says, "Give and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you." I love that verse, just think about it, when we help someone in need, there may come a day when we may be in need and it will come back to us by someone who is willing to help.
It is stories like this one, and it is not just a story but a real life happening, that melts my heart and brings joy to my soul, to hear about. I am so proud of my daughter for sharing love with this act of kindness to this lady who was in need, but I am also thinking that this could be the beginning of a brand new friendship between the two of them, who knows, God does. This is one of the things that I had taught my children, we may be going through a hard time or a rough time, but there is always someone out there that is worse off than we are, I reminded them to always remember that.
So as my daughter summed it up with this question in her post, so will I..."This is what the world has come to, has been, and will always be...will you show love? Will you afford to love a stranger, no matter of their mental state, no matter where they are in life...will you show a small act of kindness, and fall in love with doing it, because it takes all of us!"
Let's Pray,
Precious Jesus, I thank you Lord that you reminded me to always remember where you had brought me from, and as I always thought about it, it gives me the compassion that I had prayed for a long time ago, to show to others that come my way that may be in need of some love. No matter what people look like, smell like, dress like, they are still your sons and daughters in which you love very much, and we do not know what has taken place in their lives that brought them to some of the places that they are at today. So i lift each one of them up today to share your love to them, Lord I ask that you would place a compassionate, loving person around them today, to show your love to them and to help them out in whatever way they can to help meet their needs in the Mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
Be a blessing to others today. You are blessed so pass it on. Thank you for passing this message on.
