Old people have wisdom, but God has wisdom and power. Old people have insight; but God has insight and power to act. Job 12:12 Good News Translation
Good Morning Girlfriends:
This morning as I was reading in 2 Chronicles, the news of King Solomon's death was brought to the peoples attention, and the peoples demands were put on King Solomon's son, Rehoboam, wondering what they were going to do and if Rehoboam would be king. The people had said that King Solomon was a hard master and that if Rehoboam would be easier on them, they would let him be king. Rehoboam went to the older men to discuss this demand from the people, their reply to him was, that if he wanted to be their king, he should give them a favorable reply and to treat them with kindness. Rehoboam didn't like this advice so he rejected it and asked some of the younger men who he had grown up with, what they thought on the matter, and if he should be easier on the people than his father was. They replied "no and that if they thought his father was hard that he should be even harder on them."
When the people returned three days later for a reply, Rehoboam had rejected the elders advice and took the young men's advice as he spoke roughly with the people as he continued to say that instead of using whips on them, he would punish them with scorpions. When the people heard and realized what Rehoboam was saying, they turned away and deserted him, they did not want a king such as that.
Whether you are a leader over a multitude or a leader over a few, using wisdom to lead the people is very important. When we are raising our children, we want to be able to give them good, sound advice without being harsh but we still need to speak truth to them so as not to mislead them in a wrong way. As a child, I remember listening to many older people speak as they would tell their stories of how they grew up and what hardships they had to endure and what they did to get through them. It is so true that wisdom does come from years of experience as we learn from the mistakes we may have made or the wrong choices. Thank God that He is all loving, all compassion and all forgiving when we do make wrong choices, by not taking good advice.
Girlfriends, I know we don't always make the best decisions in life at times, but as we get older we tend to learn from our decisions, mistakes so that if a younger person asks us for advice, we will be able to tell them what we have learned from experience. Have you ever heard that saying, "been there, done that," we know what we are talking about. James 1:5 tells us that if anyone lacks wisdom we should ask God, read His word, there is not one thing that we go through in life that God does not have an answer for in His word. When I want to talk to someone in person, I go to a friend that will speak God's truth to me to give me Godly advice, also God tells us to test all things and that if it lines up with the word of God, then it's His truth (1 Thess. 5:21).
If we were to let pride get in the way of our decision making, then disgrace will come, but with humility comes wisdom found in Proverbs 11:2. When we use wisdom in making life's decisions, we should pray first about a matter, read God's word and wait to see what He says, and when we do, we will know for sure that we are making the right decision, and which way He is telling us to go, or what to do, we won't go wrong. If there is anyone that has made a decision that wasn't such a good one, then all we have to do is repent, ask God for forgiveness and look to Him for the right answer. If there is someone you know and trust, let them pray with you to help you get back on the right track. The important thing in life is not necessarily the mistake but getting turned around in the right direction and making it right.
Let's Pray,
Father God, life sure can be hard at times and there are many things that come against us at times, Lord help each and every one of us to seek you first in every thing that we do. Help us to remember that you have an answer for everything we are in need of. Help us to remember that you only have good things in store for us when we seek you. You have our best interest at heart. Lord for that one that is struggling with a heavy decision, Lord bring peace to their mind, and after they have counted all the cost, the pros and cons as they allow you to lead them, that will have made the right decision and they will be at peace with it, in the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
Be blessed sweet ladies and pass the blessings on. Here are a few more scriptures on wisdom...Prov. 16:16, Prov. 19:8, Prov. 13:10, Psalm 37:30, Ephes. 5:15-16, Coll. 4:5-6.
