Come to me and I will give you rest-all of you who work so hard beneath a heavy yoke. Matthew 11:28 TLB
Good Morning Girlfriends:
For about two and half years I worked part-time at a second hand store, sorting through clothes as they would be dropped off at the back door. There was myself and another lady who worked hard each day sorting, lugging, tugging and lifting on heavy, heavy bags of clothes, as we would usually end up dragging them downstairs to the basement to store them in different rooms. Each room was marked spring, summer, fall and winter and that is where we would store huge bags of clothing for the next year, it was always one year ahead.
There were times that we would have so many bags of clothes that we would have to climb to the top of the pile and drag each bag to the top in order to be able to make room for other bags to be piled. I remember several times being at the top of these mountains of clothes, the bags would loosen and down I would come , bags and all back down to the bottom, having my leg caught under bags of clothes in the process. Each of these bags of clothes usually weighed seventy-five pounds, and being caught un several of them was a little tiring, as I had to pull them off of me, only to take them back up to the top of the pile to be re-stacked. We certainly worked hard at our job, but all in all we found it very rewarding.
Girlfriends, I'm sure you have heard that old saying, "Don't keep brushing things under the carpet," because if you do, things will keep piling up until one day you will trip over it, how true that is. When we let paperwork, receipts and bills stack up for months without taking care of them, getting them sorted, we are looking at a mess of work. Some people tend to get into a mess with a pile of bills, or debt that they have a hard time to climb out from underneath, what about when that laundry gets to be so big you are overwhelmed. I remember going into a house to visit someone or drop something off, and they would have piles and piles of dishes on their cupboards that they would have to work on getting them washed, and back then it was all done by hand.
Maybe you are facing some of these things, and maybe it's even bigger than that, it could be a pile of problems that you have to work through with a co-worker, spouse or children. Maybe you are up to your eyebrows in debt and you don't know how to get out from underneath of it. You could be in a bad relationship and you don't know how to come out from under the weight of that. There was a time in my life when I was working full-time, while tending to my very sick husband in between everything, I became tired and weary, but as I was headed to work this one morning, a van had pulled out in front of me with a message on the back window which said, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." ( 2 Cor. 12:9) I thought to myself that morning when I saw that message, "thank you Lord, you are speaking to me," as I took a deep breath, and continued to drive to work, knowing that God was with me each step of my heavy journey, but He also reassured me that I was to take a hold of Him, as the next verse says from the memory verse I used for our devotion, it says, "Wear my yoke-for it fits perfectly--and let me teach you; for I am gentle and humble, and you shall find rest for your souls; for I only give you light burdens."
Girlfriends, no matter what kind of a pile you are under, God wants you to know that you can come to Him for rest, and that He is with you in your pile, He will have an answer for you, when you take time to be with Him and ask Him. God tells us in Psalm 55:22, "Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved." Another one of His promises to us is found in Isaiah 41:13, where it says, "For I, the Lord your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, "Fear not, I will help you." I love how He has something for the elderly, "Even to your old age, I am He, and even to grey hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you." Isaiah 46:4. Listen to this one, "The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles." Psalm 34:17
Girlfriends, why not come to Jesus today and allow Him to bring you out from under that pile, or heavy load, He hold all the answers and He is the one who can set you free, and who the Son sets free, is free indeed. John 8:36
Let's Pray,
Dear Heavenly Father, I lift up each dear soul to you today, that has found themselves under a pile of things. Lord, I am asking YOU, to intercede on their behalf and make a way of escape for them, to bring them our from under that pile, so that they would be able to see the light of day from all of their troubles. Lord, I am asking that you would give each of them strength to carry on, taking one step at a time, as they walk out with you, hand in hand, from underneath their heavy load, in the Mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
Be blessed sweet ladies and continue to look up, pass the blessings on to others that yo meet and share the love of Jesus.
