Cheerleaders Needed

Good Morning Girlfriends:

Sitting on the side lines, on my sofa, it was just like I was right there watching seven different groups presenting their different styles in a double-dutch jump rope competition. It's always so exciting watching each team with their matching uniforms coming up before the judges as each team performed their jumps, twists, rolls and whatever else they managed to perform.

Each team was dressed in different brightly colored uniforms, and as each team that performed, it seemed that every one was better than the team before. The stadium was crowded as parents came to support their children that were participating, yelling, cheering, shouting and clapping could be heard from all across the stadium. People were holding up team banners as they cheered for their favorite team, whistles were being blown, blow horns were blasting, it certainly was a sight to behold. As the last team went through their series of jumps, rolls, twists, and even jumping as one was on their team mates shoulders the judging was going to be a difficult one.

Judging each teams performance would be a very difficult job, as the decisions were made team blue was the winners of the trophy, team red came in second and team orange came in third place. With so much excitement in the air, shouts were still going on as people left the building, hugs and handshakes were exchanged by each of the teams towards one another.

There are times in every day life, that we will have to be a cheer leader at some point in time for someone. We may have to cheer on a son or a daughter who may be going through a tough situation in their personal relationship, and as a mother we are in most cases the words of encouragement for them. There could be times when a co-worker may need a shoulder to cry on, as a listening ear may be the only requirement. A soft, tender word of advice may be just what the doctor ordered for that close friend who is struggling with a personal decision. That stranger in the grocery store may need that second set of hands to help with carrying out bags of groceries because they have too many and you just know that their small frame would be struggling if they tried on their own.

Girlfriends, God has called us to lift one another up in times of hardship, encourage one another in times of set backs. 1 Thess. 5:11 tells us to, " Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. Eccles. 4:10 also reminds us, "For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow, but woe to him that is alone when he falleth and hath not another to lift him up." We need one another in the body of Christ, to be an encourager to one another, but not only that we should be an encourager to people that we see on the street, in the grocery store, at the work place, in the schools and hospitals. Every one can use an encouraging word at some point in life, you just never know what an encouraging word can do for someone who is going through a terrible ordeal. One smile, one word of encouragement, one little prayer could take that person further than one would ever know. There are times we would all like to hear a little compliment once in awhile, why not give one to the next person you meet when you are out. You just never know what might come back to you.

The word of God also says to give and it will be given unto you, that is found in Luke 6:38, but God continues to say in this verse, "good measure, pressed down, and shaken together and running over, shall men give unto their bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you." Amen, how wonderful does that sound, to have it come back in a greater measure. It is not as important that we receive but what we give out, so let it be that kind word, that kind gesture, that word of prayer, that helping hand, and that word of encouragement to help another be cheered on. Remember it also says in the word, that there is a great cloud of witnesses that is cheering us on, those who have went on before us, found in Hebrews 12:1. We always need cheer leaders, won't you sign up today for the position?

Father God, I thank You Lord for another day to praise You and for another day to be a witness for Your glory. Lord, use each of us to be Your hand extended as we go out into this world each day as Your little cheerleaders to being encouragement to the world, let our words of encouragement be what Your word would have us to say. Let us uplift others who may be having a tough time, let us wrap our arms around that hurting soul, so that they would feel the love of Jesus coming through that hug. Let a simple smile be the very thing that take that person through their day. Lord, let us bring glory to Your sweet name in Jesus name I pray, Amen.
