Don't Turn Back

Remember what happened to Lot's wife. Luke 17:32 The Living Bible

Good Morning Girlfriends:

As I was listening to a lady talk about "Sodom and Gomorrah," and how the days were so evil in those days, with the people who were partying and drinking, sleeping and having sex with this one and that one, and how God had sent two angels to destroy the land with fire, because of all the wickedness. She shared at the point of when the angels had told Lot to take his wife and daughters out of the land before the Lord would destroy it, and as they were ready to leave, the angels had warned them not to look back, but to head to the mountains where they would be safe.

This reminded me of the time in my life when I had a house fire, I was on my own raising my three girls and everything we had owned was destroyed. This was not because of any sin that was going on because I was living for the Lord at this time, but with a simple mistake of turning on the wrong burner on the stove, and too many things around the stove and on the burner, it didn't take long before the kitchen and other parts of the house were engulfed in flames and we had to flee outside for safety.

I had to climb the back stairs to where my two younger children slept, wrapped them both in a big comforter and placed them out on the snowy driveway, only to rip through plastic on the front part of the house as I banged and pushed on the front door in order to get my older daughter out. We managed to get out in our pajamas, some in bare feet and one with nothing on at all but a blanket, only to be rescued by neighbors who lived up the road that came out of no where. We piled in different vehicles to get warm from the freezing January temperatures, and were taken to the hospital for a check up to make sure we hadn't taken in too much smoke. I remember telling my mother when she was notified about what had happened, that I just knew that God had something better for us and He would take care of us.

Girlfriends, as I think back on this time in my life, I can see now that God was wiping away everything that had been a part of my past, every picture, memories of every hurtful time that had taken place in that house, right down to even my childhood toys and baby things that had been saved. My best friend had asked me if I wanted to go back in the house just to see if there was anything that could be salvaged, and my reply was that I didn't want to go back, I didn't want to see what things looked like. It was a hard time in our lives, my thoughts went to my three girls and that they just lost everything they had just received for Christmas, we had lost our four precious kitties that we had, and at that moment nothing else seemed to matter, only that I had my three precious children alive and well was what mattered most.

It took seven weeks of looking for a place to open up to us as a new start, but when it finally did, it was such an exciting time to be able to do a few renovations to it, put on a fresh coat of paint in each of the rooms and to decorate it the way that we wanted it as we made a new start in our new home. We had wonderful people who all pulled together and helped us, friends put on a burnt out shower for us, the school that the girls attended had brought in donations by families of children that attended the school. We were so totally blessed and very thankful to be alive and to have a new beginning, we didn't look back, oh yes there were some things that we missed having but we didn't linger there, we continued to thank God for having each other.

Once one door is closed, and another one is opened, we should not look back at the closed door why...because there is nothing to go back to, nothing but a bunch of rubble, nothing worth while. There is so much more to look forward to when we are given a new chance in life, it's just like when a person gives their life over to Jesus, what is there to really look back at afterwards but a bunch of rubble, misery, sadness, heartache, pain, hurt. But as we look ahead with Jesus, He fills that void with love, peace, joy, contentment, blessings after blessings. After one has given up drinking, partying, pornography, sleeping around, living in a wild way, we don't even want to go back into any of that filth because when we are on the other side of it, we can see how much and how far we have been brought from, saved from and are forever thankful to God for allowing us to see the light as we realize the depths of darkness we truly were in.

As we continue to prepare ourselves for the day in which Jesus comes back for His bride, we will not allow any filth or dirt to come in our lives, because we know that Jesus is coming back for a church that is without spot or wrinkle. As we think of how long a bride prepares for her special wedding day, it is not an over night thing, it takes many months of preparation in order to make sure that everything is just right. That is the way we must prepare ourselves for our Lord's return, we must make sure that every place in our lives, our heart is cleaned up so that there will be no shadow of a doubt that we will be going up with Him. He's coming girlfriends, and the times are showing that it is closer than ever, we must get prepared and be ready, and help others to get ready so that they too will be ready to see the King of Kings, Amen?

Father God, You are the name above all names and your name alone is worthy to be praised. Lord, I am so ever grateful that you love me and you were patient with me as I came to you on that special day twenty-four years ago. Lord, there has never been a day that I have ever looked back and wanted to go back to my old life, never! Lord, I pray for that sweet dear soul who has not yet made you Lord of their life, that today can be their special day to say yes to the Lord of Lord's as you become the Lord and Saviour of their life. As well as the one who has turned away from you, this too can be their very special day of reconciling with their Heavenly Father as they make things right with you to get back on track with the one who has always loved them. Lord, you are the only one that can save us from ourselves and our sins, You are the one. You are the way the truth and the life and you are the only way to the Father. Lord, we praise you as we stand together in unity as sisters in Christ Jesus. Lord, we are preparing for that very special day of your return in the Mighty name of Jesus, so that you will see a beautiful bride with no spots or wrinkles in Jesus Mighty name, Amen.
