Double Blessings

Instead of your shame there shall be a double portion, instead of dishonor they shall rejoice in their lot; therefore in their land they shall possess a double portion, they shall have everlasting joy. Isaiah 61:7 ESV

Good Morning Girlfriends:

What a glorious day, the sun was beaming, a beautiful balmy breeze blew as two of my blessings, my daughter and grandson came on a drive with me to do some grocery shopping, to a place that we love to go to that is an hour away. Sitting in the back seat, my grandson was chatting away in that sweet little voice of his, as all three of us conversed back and forth until we reached our destination.

The first stop was "Value Village," to see if we could find "little baby boo boo" a pair of shoes that would fit his little feet, because he was in that in between size. Scanning the racks, we found a cute little pair of denim shoes that fit just right, the only thing, this "Mimi" would have to make one slight altercation and they will be just right. We continued to look through the aisles of wonderful goodies, when we found a special pair of shorts that were exactly like the one's my daughter previously had, but had went amongst the missing, only they were in a different color. My daughter was happy to find this great purchase, and as we were leaving the store we realized that it had been a double blessing find.

Our day was filled with a few other stops before we finally made it to our main destination. I had previously purchased an item from this store that had a little issue with it, so I was told to come to get a full refund which made me quite happy that they would do that. Forgetting to go to the courtesy desk first before paying for my groceries, I began to explain my situation to the check out people, they called someone over who could help. Explaining my story all over again to the man from courtesy, he directed me to another lady who reimbursed me for the total of the item that had the issue. I was happy to be on my way when he asked me to follow him down to another counter, because I had already purchased another item in my groceries and had already paid for it, he decided he was going to give me my money back for that one too, I couldn't believe it, another "double blessing". I looked at my daughter, as I thanked the people so much for their wonderful service, when we outside I spoke out, "God you are so good to me."

Making our last stop at another store before driving home, I was almost to the door of the store, when I had noticed a car parked right in front, then a man that was sitting in the car had called me over as we made small talk. When I was close enough to hear what he was saying, I realized that he was telling me that he had brought some friends to the store to get groceries and he had forgotten his wallet home and did not have enough gas to get home. As I watched him tell me his predicament that he was in, he very quietly asked if I could spare ten dollars to get gas and he would get my address so he could repay me. Knowing what it is like to be in a hard spot, I told him that I would give him the money and that he did not have to pay it back, I just passed it to him and said, "be blessed," and he thanked me, as I continued to walk in to the store to make my last purchase.

When I was inside strolling down the aisle, my mind kept thinking about that dear man, some people may have thought that he was making up the story, but I took the chance that he wasn't, it felt genuine. Girlfriends, the ten dollars that I had given the man for gas, was the amount that I had received back from the item I had been reimbursed for at the other store. Since I had been doubly blessed, I was able to give back half of what I had been blessed with, that is what God would have wanted me to do. On the drive home, I was talking to my daughter about the whole scene, and I was telling her as I was thinking about it, what if that man had of been an angel sent there, what if it was a test for me, to see if I would share my money or keep it to myself.

Girlfriends, I believe that we are on this earth to help one another in any way that we can and especially when someone is in great need. It takes a person to totally humble themselves, especially when you are a stranger, to ask another person for help like that. Let me share one more blessing story that happened to me. I was at a service where they were raising money for this building to be paid off, I heard the Lord put an amount in my spirit and even though I needed that money, I gave it in faith believing. This is how good God is...Not too long after that, a person that I had met gave me a vehicle that was worth three times the amount that I had given in that service. I love this verse found in Luke 6:38 that says, "Give and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you." Isn't that so true, God gets all the glory. Deuteronomy 16:17 says, "Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord your God that he has given you," Amen!

God wants us to give with a grateful heart, to give freely like it says in Prov. 11:24-25, "One gives freely, yet grows all the richer, another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want. Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered." There may be times that we may not be able to give money, but we should always be able to give God's word to help enrich someone's life, because of a situation they may be going through. Sometimes it can be that "time is money", our time can really mean something to someone, so never stop giving in any way that you can, never stop helping in whatever way you can. God will shine down on you and you fill find yourself getting back a double blessing, I sure did. The very next day that all of this had happened at the grocery store, my other daughter and granddaughter had came out to my place for an afternoon visit, and what a blessing that is when two more of your very special people are in your presence, Amen?

Father God, I praise You for who You are and for being a good good father to us. Your love is deep, Your love is life changing. Lord, help each one of us see the blessings in our lives, help us to continue to be able to bless others in a time that they may in a low spot. Lord use us to be Your hands and feet to share Your beautiful love, share the gospel to those who are put in our path. Lord, You get all of the glory for all of the blessings that You bestow upon us in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
