And as soon as they landed, they left everything and went with him. Luke 5:11 The Living Bible
Good Morning Girlfriends:
As I was thinking about my life up to this point, my sister and I always went to Sunday School and church with our mom on the Sunday's that she didn't have to work. My mother was raised in a Christian home with two gentle and loving parents who were dedicated to raising their three children in the ways of the Lord. My dad had come from a little different home setting, where his mom was living for the Lord to the best that she could, but her husband had left the home which it made for a different atmosphere for them and how they were brought up.
Let's read Luke 5:1-11to see how it turns out for the fishermen in this account in the Bible. One day as He was preaching on the shore of Lake Gennesaret, great crowds pressed in on him to listen to the Word of God. He noticed two empty boats standing at the water's edge while the fishermen washed their nets. Stepping into one of the boats, Jesus asked Simon, its owner, to push out a little into the water, so that he could sit in the boat and speak to the crowds from there. When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Now go out where it is deeper and let down your nets and you will catch a lot of fish!" "Sir," Simon replied, "we worked hard all last night and didn't catch a thing. But if you say so, we'll try again." And this time their nets were so that they began to tear! A shout for help brought their partners in the other boat and soon both boats were filled with fish and on the verge of sinking.
When Simon Peter realized what had happened, he fell to his knees before Jesus and said, "Oh sir, please leave us-I'm too much of a sinner for you to have around." For he was awestruck by the size of their catch, as were the others with him, and his partners too-James and John, the sons of Zebedee. Jesus replied, "Don't be afraid! From now on you'll be fishing for the souls of men!" And as soon as they landed, they left everything and went with him.
Simon Peter thought because he was a sinner that Jesus would not want Simon Peter to be hanging around Him, but that is exactly why Jesus was there at that place, at that time, was to speak His message to the people who wanted to listen. Jesus also wanted to show people that because He loved them so much, He would do a miracle by filling the fishermen's nets, for they were sinners living in the world, in order to draw them closer to Himself so that they would believe and become followers.
Girlfriends, I remember standing in the kitchen of where I grew up, and when I was sixteen, I remember saying I didn't want to treat my children in the ways that I had seen and had experienced, I wanted it to be different. After many years, my dad had given his heart to the Lord and began serving Him the last three years of his life. My mom shared with me, one quiet moment, that my dad had said he wished that he had surrendered his life to Jesus a lot sooner than he did, because it was easier than he thought it would be.
Thinking back on this statement that my dad had made, how many of us think that very same thing. Sometimes we get it in our heads that there all these things that we will have to give up in order to serve the Lord. Jesus makes it so easy for us to ask Him into our hearts, and as we surrender our lives over to Him, as we walk with Him day by day, read His word day by day, He does the work in us as our heart begins to change. Each and every person on this earth has a choice of who they want to serve, who they want to get on board with so to say. We can either choose to get on board with surrendering to the Lord and serve Him or we can continue our lives living in sin as we are under the leadership of the enemy, which is satan.
That is the one thing that Jesus does not do, He will not twist our arms, He will not threaten us, He will not force us to serve Him, because He has given us our own free will to choose. (John 7:17, Joshua 24:15, Mark 8:34) When I was a teenager I had accepted Jesus into my heart, but then I had went astray. Was I happy for those years that I was living in sin...I thought I was, but when it boils right down to it, I found out I was not and I wasn't going anywhere, my life was going around in a cycle. When I stood standing in my living room this time, at the age of thirty-two, I wanted a change in my life, I needed a change. The only way we will get a change is when we decide to make a change so that there will be a different outcome, and that is what I did and I have never ever looked back. I got on board with the only one, the only Savior of this world, and that is Jesus. (1 Tim.1:15, Acts 13:23)
Jesus Christ is the only one who will get you swung around in the right direction, so that you will see such a difference in your life for the good. Today Jesus is calling you to "Get On Board," won't you come and join us, today is your day, He loves you with an everlasting love. (Jeremiah 31:3)
Let's Pray,
Father God, I lift up Your holy name, the name of Jesus. I thank You for this glorious day. Lord, I lift up that one dear soul to You today that has been questioning in their mind if You are really real. Lord, I ask that You would come into their presence right now in the mighty name of Jesus, so that they will feel Your holy and powerful presence as they realize that You are real and that they need You in their life so that they will begin to see things shift in their life. Lord I speak double blessings over them as they surrender their life and ask You into their heart. Lord, I speak healing over their body the moment they surrender to You, a complete healing will take place. Lord this is our portion, this is what Your word declares, blessings and healings are ours and I thank You in the mighty name of Jesus as You are bringing in more and more precious souls for the kingdom in Jesus mighty name, Amen.
Be blessed girlfriends and pass the blessings on as you pass this message on. I thank you in advance.
