Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. NKJV
Good Morning Girlfriends:
As I was cleaning things up in the kitchen to put the day to a rest, I had noticed my water bottle on the table had tipped over and the first thing I saw it was pointed towards my laptop. The first thing I said of course was, "Oh no, not my laptop, I need that!" I immediately picked the laptop up, as the water started to drip from the keyboard, I then immediately started praying and giving thanks to God that no harm would come out of it. Then a thought came to me to take the blow dryer to it and dry it out. In the morning I was believing that everything would be okay for me to continue to get my devotions out, and here we are, thank you Jesus!
God doesn't want us to just give thanks and praising Him when everything is going our way or everything is running smoothly, we are to give thanks in all things, like it says in 1 Thes. 5:16-18. It doesn't mean we are thanking God for the bad situation or what was happening in our life but we are thanking God that He will help us through it because we put our trust in Him. How many things can we thank God for as we remember back on the things that He has brought us through. Just to name a few things that God has brought me through in my life would be...divorces, depression, a house fire and losing everything, the death of my husband, losing my job, losing my vehicle and no way to travel, he brought me through bankruptcy because of the loss of my husband. I guess you could say that I have had to start over many times in my life but as I did, God was always with me to see me through all of those hard times. He was there even when I wasn't serving Him and I didn't even realize it, God is so good. I have a reason to give thanks, not just for the material things, my family, and my home, but also for salvation, the day I asked Him into my heart and to take control of my life. That's enough to give thanks and praise God just as it says in Psalm 95:1, "Let us sing and shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation."
Girlfriends, I'm sure you can all think back on your past and think of many things God has brought you through. He wants us to give thanks everyday, in the small things and in the big things. I can thank Him today that He woke me up and gave me breath, I get to enjoy waking up each morning seeing a beautiful little grandson that is staying with me, I get to see him grow, experience all of his little changes and love on him all day long, I am very blessed to say the least. I can also thank God for putting wonderful friends in my life that has been a backbone for me and a great encouragement, as we have walked through many things together. I love to be an encourager to others who are going through their struggles, to let them know they will come through just like I did, because God is walking by their side.
As we are approaching Thanksgiving, each day try to think of different things that you are thankful for, it sets the mood for a heart of praise. Start a list of all those things and see how many are on that list by the end of the week, it may surprise you what is on your list. I remember a song we always sing at Church this time of year that says, "This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." It is also scripture that is found in Psalm 118:24, so as you wake each day just remember that each and every day God has made and He woke you up and that is something to be thankful for, thank Him for it. Have a blessed day.
Let's Pray,
Father God, I thank you for this day that you have made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. I thank you that you woke me up this beautiful fall sunny day and for the breath that I breath. I thank you for each person you have put in my life and I thank you for each one that is reading this devotion and that they would have a heart of thanks to you as well as they think about all that you have brought them through and have given them, because we know that all good gifts come from above which is from you. Father God bless each one today and every day and make yourself more real in each of their lives as they draw closer to the God who loves them so very much, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.
Be blessed sweet ladies and be a blessing to others.
