As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater. Isaiah 55:10. NIV
Good Morning Girlfriends:
As I look out the window this morning, I can see how the snow is melting
away from the beautiful warm and mild temperatures we have been having, but not only that, I can see the fog is on the rise across the field and that is always another sign that the snow will go all that much faster. For the next few days the weather report is rain, which will take away even more of the snow, only to be replaced with more snow and freezing rain. This is the time of year where we can be hit with all kinds of crazy weather.
As the snow blankets the earth all winter long, it is cleansing the land, the snow covers all the dirt that hides underneath of it. As the snow melts and fades away, rocks comes to the surface and all kinds of debris is brought up as well. As the spring rain falls it is a nourishment for the earth. Rain is referred to as a blessing, especially after a drought, it's a symbol of God's love and teachings to spread over the world, and even as a flood to wash away the sins of a corrupt world.
Rain is refreshing, it is to the earth what water is to our bodies. Amos 4:7 tells us that, "I also withheld rain from you when the harvest was still three months away. I sent rain on one town, but withheld it from another. One field had rain, another had none and dried up." What the rain is to the earth, the Holy Spirit is to us, it's a refreshment to our souls. We need the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us in our daily lives, it's like if we stop reading God's word, we will dry up, that's why we need to be in His word every day to refresh us. As we get deeper, and stronger in the word, as we allow the word of God to work on and in us, we get rid of more and more of the old rough ways of our sinful nature, the rocks and all the "crud" comes to the top so to say, and we get rid of it. We get rid of such things as...Bad language, smoking, drinking, wrong thoughts, anger, hatred, unforgiveness, things like that come to the surface and it gets cleaned away, just like the rain washes away the snow and all of the dirt that was in it.
Girlfriends, as each of us grow in the Lord and we allow Him to work in our lives, He washes all of those things away, as we change from being the people that we were in the world, to a new creation in Jesus. After the rain, the sun will reappear, just like there is life after pain that we go through, joy will still be here. The nicest thing about the rain is that it eventually will stop. Everyone loves to see a rainbow, but if you think about it, it has to rain first before we see the rainbow. If there was no rain, there would be no flowers, no rain, no crops for the farmers, no rain, there would be no oceans, lakes, or streams.
Rain also tends to bring relaxation, peace, and new growth, so why not sit back and enjoy the rain as it refreshes the earth, but also let it bring refreshing to our souls.
Let's Pray,
Father God, I thank you for the rain, as it stop us to reflect on all the things that it is good for. Lord you allow it to rain when the earth needs it for the crops, the wildlife, our oceans and lakes, but most of all for us to drink. Lord you made this earth and you knew exactly what you were doing when you made it. I thank you for the goodness of the rain that it has for so many things. You are so good to us Lord, and you take very good care of us and just as it rains on the earth, let your spirit rain upon us as well as you move amongst your people, let us feel your Holy presence more and more in Jesus name I pray, Amen.
Be blessed, and pass the blessings on.
