Though we experience every kind of pressure, we're not crushed. At times we don't know what to do, but quitting is not an option. We are persecuted by others, but God has not forsaken us. We may be knocked down, but not out. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 The Passion Translation
Good Morning Girlfriends:
This is going back just a few days ago, maybe many years ago, but who remembers when we used to say "I pinky swear," as you wrapped your pinky finger around your friends pinky, as you were declaring you wouldn't tell other people whatever it was you wanted to be kept secret, we were making a type of promise to one another.
I believe we still do the same thing today when we want to unload something deep onto a friend and we ask them to promise not to say anything to anyone, we tend to go to that friend that we know we can truly trust.
As I reflect back on some of the old traditional wedding vows, the words "I Promise," are in the vows as well. I promise to love and honor and keep you in sickness and health, for richer or poorer until death. These are vows that are being made to the one you are marrying, promises are being made to one another believing that they will be fulfilled. We see it time and time again, these vows or promises get broken, they are not fulfilled by one of the parties involved.
Girlfriends, I know we can go through some pretty rough and deep waters at times throughout our journey of life, but we have a best friend that we can always go to when times get hard, the waters get rough or the road gets too bumpy, and his name is Jesus. Proverbs 18:24 says the He is a friend that sticks closer than a brother, that's His promise to us. In God's word, He has many promises for us to help us in life's situations, let me share some with you.
If you are going through a storm and need some peace to make it through, He gives us this promise in John 16:33. In Colossians 1:17, God's promise to us is that He will hold everything together, He has the power to sustain us to get through each and every day and the problems that we face. Isaiah 43:1-2 lets us know that when we pass through the waters, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over us and God will be with us. I love this verse, its His promise to us and did you catch the part where it says, "when you pass through," it means we will get through each storm we go through.
Another promise that He gives us, is that He will give us everything we need and we can find these scriptures in Philippians 4:19 where it says "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus." We can also find His promise in 1 Cor. 10:13, 2 Peter 3:13, which is so reassuring and brings comfort to us.
God also gives us many promises that He will protect us when we are in situations that may be overwhelming or too hard and we can find these in 2 Samuel 22:3-4, 2 Thess. 3:3, and Deut.31:6.
When we need a promise that God knows the right timing for things to happen in our lives or when things will come about, we can rest on these promises found in Habakkuk 2:3, Eccles. 3:11, Eccles. 8:6, as well as Galatians 6:9. He always knows the right timing on things because He can see the whole picture of our lives from the beginning to the end.
God also promises us another thing that when He closes a door, no man can open it and when He opens a door for us, no man can shut it, Revelation 3. This is the scripture that I love to read and hold on to, is found in 2 Peter 3:13 as it says, "But in keeping with His promise, we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. Now doesn't that sound like a wonderful promise that we can hold onto, that is where I want to be because I know that my Savior Jesus will be there also.
There is one thing I know for sure is that even though man may break their promises to us and let us down, we have a God that will never break His promises because His word is true, His word is stable, His word is alive in which we can stand upon for every situation that we may find ourselves in, He is worthy and will stand behind all of His promises. Psalm 145.
Let's Pray,
Father God I thank you that all of your promises are yes and amen. I thank you Lord that you are a God that does not lie and that your promises are all truth in which we can stand upon. Lord for each one who is reading this today, who may have prayed a prayer to you, Lord I know that you are answering all of those prayers and that you are a faithful God who hears and who answers. Lord I thank you in advance for each and every answered prayer, that your promise is to bring them to pass, in the Mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
Be blessed sweet ladies and pass the blessings on,
