"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways." says the Lord. "For as the heavens higher than the earth, So are my ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9. NKJV
Good Morning Girlfriends:
There are a lot of tough cases out in the world today, situations that come at us, sometimes in every direction possible. Appointments to keep, schedules to fulfill, phone calls coming in and just trying to keep up with daily living while trying to stay focused.
Phone calls coming in from people that are in need of prayer, or are wanting prayer for other family members can be quite time consuming, while juggling family life can become quite hectic. Over the past several years, I have helped many people, I have seen many come and go, some receiving the help or prayers that I offer and some that do not. I have learned that not everyone is always in a place in their life that can receive the help, even though this is what they are reaching out for, but their mind is not in the right place to receive.
If you are like me, and you are a person who loves to help people, we must remember, that we cannot help everyone, some may receive our help and some may not, so we can not allow ourselves to become disappointed when we can't reach certain people. Here are seven steps to help a person to overcome disappointment:
Give yourself a limited time to feel bad. Acknowledge the letdown but don't get sucked down into those feelings. You did your best to help that person by doing all that you could.
Don't think about "what might have been." Don't beat yourself up over trying to think of different ways you could have done something.
Avoid self-pity...trying to think of better ways of helping, or maybe I wasn't good enough.
Use self compassion...You are a good helper
Put it into perspective.. tell yourself that you did the best that you could, you gave them your time and energy and realize you gave it your all.
Tell yourself that there will be other opportunities.
Remember... Success does not mean happiness
Girlfriends, I know that each and everyone of us has experienced disappointments along life way, and some disappointments are harder to get through than others. But we have to remember that we have a loving father that we can give our disappointments over to, we don't have to run from them, but we are to face them and then release it. It is important to pray about your disappointment and be real with God about how you are feeling and what you are experiencing. But we are not to allow that disappointment to rule our life, we must move on to the next new thing that comes our way.
Jeremiah 29:11 tells us that God has a plan for each of our lives, it's a plan for us to prosper and a plan that will not harm us, to give us a hope and a future. Sometimes we may never know why these things have happened, and maybe there will come a day that we do find out what the purpose was for these certain situations. Only God knows and He knows the purpose, whether it made us stronger, whether it was a test to see if we would open our doors to help certain people, and maybe the true purpose is later to be exposed, who knows.
Girlfriends, all I know is that God is in the windshield of life before us and as we keep our focus on what's in front of us and never behind, just know that when we stick with God, we are going places. If we are willing and ready, He will take us to unimaginable places, the sky is the limit and even beyond, Amen?
Let's Pray,
Father God, You are such a good good father and I praise You for who you are. Lord, each of us has experienced many disappointing things in life, but You have always been right by our side to help us through it. Lord, I lift up that dear one today that may be struggling with some kind of disappointment. Lord, I break it off of off them in the mighty name of Jesus, I say that is not their portion, but I speak love, peace and joy over them in the mighty name of Jesus. Let them go forward from this day on holding their head up as an overcomer in Jesus name, Amen.
Be blessed dear ones, and pass the blessings on.
