Let's Do More

But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect. 1 Peter 3:15 ESV

Good Morning Girlfriends:

As far back as I can remember I have always been a helper, I love to jump right in somewhere and help. Even as far back as school, I remember helping friends with a school project they were late in getting finished. Visiting a friend that had a new baby, dishes would pile up along with the laundry, I tried to help out whenever I could. At different times in my life a friend here and there would be moving to a new place and they would ask me for my help to get things packed in order to be moved into their new place. Sometimes this would also be extended to help with unpacking and decorating so that it would be done a little faster.

Moving away and meeting new people did not stop my gift of helping people, I would be called upon for a few of the elderly to do a little cleaning in their home and some just wanted a friend to come and sit with them for company. Learning of a young person that was struggling to keep food on the table was not a time to stop helping, as a friend of mine and I decided to gather up some groceries and dropped it off on the doorstep, because we didn't know how they would react as we just wanted it to be a blessing.

When one of my daughters gave birth to her second baby, making a few meals ahead of time to be froze, she was able to pull them out whenever she wanted to. years ago when i had moved away, during those years a family member needed a place to stay so I had offered my home that was sitting vacant, so they could get back on their feet. My other daughter who has had her first baby had quite an experience during delivery, and she was going to need some time to heal from it, again my open became open to this new little family and of course I didn't mind one little bit, who wouldn't right?

Girlfriends, I certainly do not share these stories to toot my own horn by any means, I share this with you because there is always more that we can do for people. There was a time in the schools when they were telling the children not to give one another hugs, and I believe that is what's wrong with the world today, there is not enough love shown to one another, and this is found in the scriptures that tell us to do so. (John 13:34, John 15:12,17, 1 John 3:11,23) God is love and when we represent Him we will show love by helping one another, that's one way we can show the Love of Jesus. (1 Cor. 11:1-2) As we continue to help people where we can and do not give up by doing good, in due season we will reap from it. (Galatians 6:9)

In this new year let's make it a new goal, a priority if you will, to think of new ways that we can help others in a greater capacity. For those who can give their time to volunteer somewhere, whether it be to sit with the elderly, someone you may know, or to volunteer at a local store, a homeless shelter, a soup kitchen, let's do it. We can make it a new priority to prayer in a greater way for our families, our communities, our government, so that there can be a greater impact in each of these areas. We can make a point of telling someone that we meet in town somewhere that Jesus loves them, you never know what that might do for someone because they may be thinking that they are thinking about ending their life, what an impact that would make, just taking that second to relay that message of love and hope. For myself, because I love the Lord so, and He has been such an impact in my life, and He has helped me through so many tremendous situations, I have so much I can share with others to let them know that if Jesus loves me enough to save me and lead me through many trial, He can do the same for them, Amen!

Father God, I come to You with thanksgiving in my heart. Lord, I thank you this morning that my water did not freeze. I thank You for Your love and protection over my family. I thank You for bringing my prodigals home. Lord let this be a year that is greater than ever as we as Your people reach out to others who don't even know You yet. Lord, impart a greater desire in us to be that impact in the world to make You known in what ever way that we can. Let us be a bigger flashlight out in this world to share the love of Jesus in order to bring them to You. Lord I know You are already opening doors of opportunity to us to do so and I thank You in the mighty name of Jesus for those open door, Amen.
