Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit"-yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that." James 4:13-15. ESV
Good Morning Girlfriends:
As a little girl we used to go visit my mother's mother once a year in the summer, because both of my parents worked and because they lived so far away, we didn't get to see them but once a year. I remember hearing my grandparents saying "Lord willing," about different things and I never knew what that meant until I was much older and had a walk of my own with the Lord.
Everyone always makes their own plans in what they will do in the run of a day, or they will make plans of where they may take a vacation in the summer, some people will make a "honey do list," in hopes that everything will get done on it, but that is not always the case. We never think of things that could go wrong in the run of a day that would prolong those lists or plans from being completed, do we? Sometimes a sickness may come and prevent certain plans from happening for a period of time or be as a little set back.
Girlfriends, I have learned that we do not know what each of our day will hold, we can make all of the plans that we want to, but that doesn't mean it will all go according to the way we want it to go. There is a saying but it is also scripture that says in Psalm 31:15, "I don't know what tomorrow holds, but I know who holds tomorrow." Since we do not know what is in store for each day, because we are only given today and never promised tomorrow, we should make sure that we tell all of the people that are special to us that we love them. That should always be the last words that a loved one hears in their ears. Prov. 27:1 tells us as well, "Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring."
Another saying that I'm sure many of you have heard is, "Don't put off til tomorrow, what you can do today," because really we do not know if there will be a tomorrow, it is not promised to us because we do not know when God will call each of us home to be with Him. If you feel to take someone some cookies, then do it, if you feel a pressing in your spirit to help that individual down the road that no one else will take the time for, then goo do it, if you feel to give a bag of clothes to someone less fortunate than you, pass it on to them, and if you feel the tug in your heart to call out to Jesus and ask Him to come in to your heart because you want to live in a better way, then obey today because tomorrow is not promised. In anything you do, do it today because tomorrow it could be too late.
God wants us to be the best neighbor, the friend, the best mother, sister, wife, boss, co-worker that we can be in order to leave behind the best legacy that we can leave, so that other's will see the Jesus in us. It is so true that we should love people the way Jesus loves people, do for people and treat them how Jesus would have. Don't let another day go by what you could do today, Amen.
Let's Pray,
Dear Heavenly Father, I truly thank you for this day, for it says in Psalm 118:24, "This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it." I am thankful for each glorious day that you give me to be alive and I thank you for each dear soul out there today for who they are and who you are molding them to be. Lord I would like each person to know that they are special, loved, beautiful, and truly blessed. Lord if there is just one person who is reading this, and they have never accepted you as their Savior, I would love to tell them that there is no better day than today to ask Jesus into your heart, because when you do, you will see things in such a new light, everything becomes beautiful, and life becomes more precious each and every day that we are blessed to be alive. Lord, if you are speaking to that someone to do something special for another person, I pray that they would obey, and they will be totally blessed by you for doing so, in Jesus mighty name, Amen.
Be blessed, and be a blessing.
