Shine Your Light

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:16 ESV

Good Morning Girlfriends:

Oh my, there is nothing like trying to find something in the back of a closet in the darkness, as you fumble and dig around pulling things out that are not what you are looking for. One day as I was walking through the aisles of a store, I came across a bin that had battery operated lights that you could stick in your closet for light and the turn on switch, you would stick it on the outside of the closet. I thought this looked like a great idea and it would help me for my situation. Putting the switch on the outside of the closet doors was no problem, but trying to find just the right spot for the second part inside the closet was a little trickier, I couldn't seem to get the right angle for where I wanted the light to shine. After several tries, I decided to put it in the middle of the closet for an overall light, but for more light I was going to have to use a flashlight to go deep in the back of the closet to be able to go in for a deeper look.

Do you ever find that we are always looking for a little nook and cranny to stuff something in when you might be having company come over, so you just shove it somewhere quickly, and think you will deal with it later. I'm sure many of us do this or have done it from time to time until our little nooks and crannies get so overloaded, things start spilling out.

One night I had a dream that two girls were walking in a driveway and they were on their cell phones, when a helicopter flew over them, shining a light down on them, they began to run into a house for safety. As I thought about the dream, when God is supposed to be the pilot of our life, He will shine the light down on us if we are not in the place with Him where we should be.

Girlfriends, that can be us at times, sometimes God may have to shine His light down on us to remind us where we need to be. Sometimes He may have to go in deeper with His flashlight into the deeper places of our hearts in order for us to deal with somethings that are spilling over, especially when we thought we had already dealt with it. I believe God is calling us to take a deeper look within our hearts to see if there is any unfinished business that should be cleaned up. When we represent the King of Kings, we want to be looking good for Him, so that when we share the gospel with someone else, they will be able to see and feel the difference between us and someone who hasn't quite dealt with everything. Until we do let the Lord shine in those little corners of our heart, little things may spill out of our mouths that do not come across like as though we had.

Be rest assured that God does not hold this against us, but if we want to be more and more like Him, to shine like Him, to walk and talk like Him, we will want to let Him shine His light on us and in us so that nothing more spills out that should not, but only the love and the word of God would spill out of us. (Ephes.5:8, 2 Cor. 4:6) Think about it this way, when we wake up in the morning the sun is shining only so bright because it's sitting at a lower spot, but as it comes up higher then it shines in a brighter way and to its full capacity. ( 2 Peter 1:9, Isaiah 60:19, Prov. 4:18)

Girlfriends, let each one of us let God shine His light in the deepest places of our hearts, so that there is nothing left to spill out, then we will be like that city that shines on a hill. ( Rev. 21:23, Matt. 5:14-14) God is our light, so we can be a light to the world, Amen.

Let's Pray,

Father God, I thank you Lord that You love each one of us, that you have such mercy on us, that You allow us to be worked on day by day. Lord, help us to let You go deep into those corners of our hearts to bring out anything that may need to be dealt with that we thought we had many years before. Lord, I know that You will do it in such a gracious and loving way, so that we will be refreshed and relieved that we have been set free. Lord, use us in a way that we can make a difference in this dark world to allow Your light to shine brighter in Jesus mighty name, Amen.
