For if you give, you will get! Your gift will return to you in full and over flowing measure, pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, and running over. Whatever measure you use to give, large or small, will be given back to you. Luke 6:38 TLB
Good Morning Girlfriends:
A Pastor of a church somewhere in a city dressed up as a homeless person, with raggedy clothes, and he sat on the sidewalk out in front of the church that he pastored, because he wanted to see how he would be treated by society. To his astonishment, people passed by and stopped to bring him hot coffee, some brought him something to eat, another had brought him some warm clothes, as another man had stopped and prayed with him. As I watched the video, because he had a hidden camera taping it, it brought tears to my eyes. As time went by he gathered the things up, and went into his church dressed the same way he was as he sat on the sidewalk, he went onto the platform and the congregation looked a little bewildered to what was going on. The Pastor revealed himself as he took away some of his disguise, then the congregation realized who it was, he explained why he did what he did.
The Pastor had been doing a teaching on how we as Christians are supposed to be followers of Jesus, and how we are suppose to treat others, that may not know Jesus. The Pastor admitted that his congregation was many of the people who had stopped to help him out, and he told him his heart was blessed to see their act of kindness.
There has been so many times I have seen Luke 6:38 happen to me as well. Anytime I had heard of a family that had been burnt out, my children and I would bag up whatever we could give them to help them in their time of need. There have been times when I would have a friend who was in need of help to move from one apartment to another. Many times when a person that I heard would be in need of food because they were having a hard time, I would go through my cupboards to give whatever I could. I am sharing this to boast or bag but to share the truth of how God always gives back to us because of giving. My children and I had went through a house fire, and God used many people in the community to help us get set back up again as we had to start over. Different times I have had friends ask me to go out to lunch with them, and they would say it was on them, Praise God!
Girlfriends, the Bible says it is better to give than to receive, Acts 20:35, as it also teaches us that there is joy in giving when it is done with a pure heart. If we were to give with wrong motives, then we are doing it for the wrong reason, but if we give freely, cheerfully, God will bless us in the same way. Jesus tells us in Luke 6 vs. 36,37, "Try to show as much compassion as your Father does, never criticize or condemn, because that too will come back on you." We have to be very careful even of the words we speak, those too will come back on us, when we speak negatively about someone, Jesus says that will come back on us. When we speak blessings over someone, that will come back to us. He is trying to teach us, that whatever we sow, that is what we will reap. So if we want good things to come back to us, then we have to put out good things. (Galatians 6:7-8) I could not imagine that anyone would want bad things to come to them.
A little quote says: "Everyday God drops showers of blessings and graces only those with pure hearts catch them." Here are the words to a little chorus we would sing in church..."Showers of blessings, showers of blessings we need. Mercy drops around us are falling, but for the showers we plead." Let's keep this always in our hearts, that if we want blessing back, then we are to give blessings out to others, that is how it works. Let each one of us share and act of kindness to someone that we know that is in need or make a point of finding out someone to help that is in need. Showers of blessings will come your way, watch for it.
Let's Pray,
Precious Jesus, You are so good to us, just because of who you are to us and what you did on the cross for us, that we would have eternal life with you. That is such an amazing blessing. Your gospel message is a blessing to us, as we pass it on to others that they might be saved, salvation is a blessing. Lord help us to always think of others that may be in need of some way, but not just to do it, we want to have the right attitude by blessing another. Let us give in love as you most certainly did when you gave us your son Jesus Christ, for that we thank you in the Mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
You are a blessing, you are blessed, be a blessing to others.
