"Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much." Luke 16:10 NIV
Good Morning Girlfriends:
Remembering back to when my two youngest girls were just little, there would be times when I would write a little note to them saying, "I love you" on it, as I was making their lunches up for them to take to school, I would think of how it must have brought a little smile to their little faces. Their dad used to work a lot of night shifts, so we not see each other as much, so when he would have made it home in the middle of the night, I would have all kinds of sticky notes stuck all around the house with little rhymes on them just to make things fun, as I knew he would have worked a long shift and may have needed a little laugh.
A friend of mine and I made up special grocery bag full of all kinds of goodies, and things that we knew this single man that lived down the road could use, because we knew he was going through a tough time in his life so we wanted to brighten his day. A little girl that lives on the same road that I do, has been going through a time in her young little life, where she has been in and out of the hospital, so the community got together a surprise welcome home party, as we were all lined up and down the road with balloons and banners and signs, gift baskets, just to say that we were thinking about her, hoping that it would bring a smile to her little face to show how much people do care.
Have you ever had a friend who was going through such a hard time that you didn't know what to say or do for her, so the only thing you could think of to do was to just give her a hug and sit with her to be that listening ear for her. How many mother's have went over to your daughter's house after her just coming home from the hospital with a new baby, and stepping in to help with making suppers or doing laundry, or whatever you could just to help until she was able to get a routine down that she could handle herself. How many daughters have had to sit at the bedside of an ill parent or grandparent, not knowing how much time you may have to spend with them. These are all the little things in life that some people do not see them as big things, but in God's, He sees them as big things.
The story in the Bible of the widow who put in her two small coins in the offering plate found in Mark 12:41-44 and Luke 21:1-4. It was said that the two mites were less than the value of a penny today, but that was all she had to her name. Jesus knew that was all she had and in his eyes that meant more than the rich people putting in bigger amounts. How about when the Bible tells us that how God is concerned about taking care of the little sparrow, so how much more will He look after us as people, Matthew 6:26. God used Gideon and three hundred men to fight and win the battle over the Midianites of 120,00 men, that is amazing. God used little David, a shepherd boy with three stones and a sling shot to take down the giant Goliath. Jesus had twelve disciples who walked with him to spread the gospel and work in sign, wonders and miracles, so what can we do as there are many disciples all over the world.
Think about it the next time you plant a seed in the garden or a flower seed in the ground and what it will look like in a few short months. That little seed grows into something beautiful or something very tasty. That one simple little act of kindness, as sharing your last bit of food with someone else who may be in need. Picking up the phone to see how someone is, who you know is going through a hard time. As you pass someone on the sidewalk or in a store, a quick smile or simple hello could mean the world to them, or a little hug can go a long way for a person who is down. Sometimes it's nice to say a simple thank you to a person who has done so much in your life to help you, or having someone remember something that you had said, and it it showed that they cared enough to actually listen to you.
Girlfriends, there can be many hidden little messages that God may speak to us each day that we miss because we are not paying close attention. Who ever would have thought that a baby that was born in a manger would grow one day to save the world. I love the illustration of a picture with a little girl holding onto her little teddy bear, saying that she loves that little bear, and as God is reaching out to her, asking if she will give him that little teddy bear because He has a much bigger one behind His back that He wants to give her. He is saying to us that if we will trust Him with the little, He will bless us with bigger things. So don't despise the small beginnings because God will turn them into something big in the right timing for His glory.
We know we are in a good place when we can be content with the small home we start out in, with the small businesses we start, maybe with a small ministry that we build. When we stay committed and faithful to the small beginnings, God will turn those things into bigger blessings. Jesus was around the age of thirty-three when He began His ministry, and look at all the things that He did, so how much more are we able to do in the run of our life time? God can certainly use the small, because when God gets a hold of it, it will become bigger, Amen.
Let's Pray,
Father God, I thank you for each individual who is reading this today, and I ask that you would bless each one of them with such a big blessing that they cannot contain it all, that they will be praising and thanking you for a long time as they share with other people of the tremendous blessings they have received from you. Bless them with greater finances, greater health, greater ministries, greater homes to live in, greater jobs to provide for their families, better vehicles to drive in. Those who are in ministry, bless them with a much greater anointing to reach people wherever they go so that they would bring more and more souls into the kingdom of God and I ask all of these things in your great and glorious name, Amen.
Be blessed sweet girlfriends and be a blessing to others.
