Jesus turned and saw them following and said to them, "What are you seeking?" And they said to him, "Rabbi" (which means teacher), "where are you staying." John 1:38 English Standard Version
Good Morning Girlfriends:
When I was just a young girl, my dad liked to watch the old western movies where the cowboys rode their horses out on the open range, keeping watch over their herds of cattle. Back then the land was wide open fields, there were not many houses or buildings obstructing the land, so the cattle had large open fields to roam around all day.
When darkness fell, the cowboys would have a campfire blazing as they cooked their evening meal over the open fire. Settling down for the night, there would be times that each cowboy would have to keep watch over the herd, to be on watch that no other "cow wrestlers," they were called, would come along during the night trying to steal the cattle.
As morning came, some of the cattle may have strayed off so the cowboys would be off on the trail searching for them and there could be times when they would have to be "roped in," in order to be brought back to the herd. Packing up their belongings, a new day began as they journeyed on to where ever they were leading the herd to.
Jesus went along rounding up the disciples, so to say, the ones who He was choosing for His followers. and as He picked Matthew, James, John, Peter, Simon, so on and so on, Jesus turned to each one after having a few brief words with each one saying "follow me." As they followed Jesus for three and half years, learning from His teachings of the things that were yet to come, seeing every miracle that had taken place, watching how Jesus maneuvered with such love and compassion to all that He met, He offered each person, each believer a place with Him in heaven.
Girlfriends, Jesus is still in the "rounding up" business today, He is still looking and offering the same to all people who believes in Him and will follow Him all of their days, and they are assured a place in heaven as their home for eternity, that is His promise to us. What better place could there ever be, knowing that when we leave this earth that we are guaranteed a heavenly home.
Girlfriends, let each one of us, go out and be the hands and feet of Jesus extended, showing that same love and compassion to those out there that haven't met Him yet. Those are the people that are out there on the wide open range, to be "rounded up" and brought into the kingdom of God. So what are we waiting for, let's get saddled up and get out there to find the lost and share what we know, and that's Jesus. It doesn't matter what they look like, talk like, smell like, they all need the opportunity to hear that Jesus loves them and wants them to be one of His followers, He loves us all. Who are we to say this one has too many tattoos, this one talks too bad, that one doesn't look right, remember we were once one of them.
Let's Pray,
Father God, Oh how I love You, that even though I was once one of the lost roaming through life unaware of how much You loved me, You didn't stop making Yourself available to me as You were always there to extend Your hand down to me and the day that I took Your hand, You turned my life around. You called me one of Your own. Lord I lift up each one today that has never called upon the name of Jesus, Lord I pray that this would be the day that we would roped in by You, as they open up their heart and receive You as their own personal Lord and Savior. Oh how You love each and every one of us, with all of our differences, all of our quirks, with all of our crazy appearances at times. Lord You died on that cross for each and every one, that is how much You love us and that You offer so much more to us as we follow You until we take our very last breath on this earth, Your promise to us is heaven. Lord, Let there be one today that would call upon Your name and ask You to come into their heart, so that they will follow You and knowing that they will be in heaven for all eternity as their final home, in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
Be blessed dear ones and pass the blessings on. Each one reach one.
