What Are We Drawing From

Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:8 ESV

Good Morning Girlfriends:

Only days ago, a group of people were sitting around the kitchen table sharing stories of experiences they had in the past, and this one individual shared about a time that his wife wanted to have her fortune told and she wanted him to go with her. It was actually tea leave reading, as he continued to share what the lady had seen for his wife, as the lady read the tea leaves. There were many things that were apparently going to happen within the family unit, as the man continued to share that he did not want to take part in having a reading over his life. The woman who was doing the readings had said she was not able to get anything on him anyway because she had spoke out that there was no darkness in him at all. He continued to share with us that he was not open to such things.

The group of us continued to talk and share, as I had remembered how a friend of mine from years ago had shared about her experience with a ouija board and what happened with her and her friends. As they would ask the board questions, the curser would move and give an answer. She had shared with me how things had not turned out so good, and they had never touched it again.

God has warned us in His word not to dabble in witchcraft or have anything to do with mediums, fortune tellers, magicians or to have anything to do with wizardry. These people are being drawn in by the dark side of things. In 1 Samuel 28:3, Saul had all the mediums and wizards banned from Israel after the prophet Samuel had died, Samuel was Gods prophet that He spoke through to the people. King David had agreed to help King Saul fight the Philistines (vs 2), but Saul was fearful of the Philistines so he sought the Lord for help. The Lord had not answered Saul (vs 5-6) so he instructed his aides to find him a medium, so he could ask her what he should do (vs 7).

When a medium was found, one that had been banned, King Saul said to the medium that he needed help and he needed to talk to a dead person, which was the prophet Samuel who had passed. (vs 8) Saul had disobeyed the Lord many times after being told by the Lord through the prophet Samuel back in 1 Sam. 15 when Saul had been crowned as king. King Saul disobeyed the Lord by keeping the best of the animals for his men when God had said that nothing was to be left alive from the great battle the Lord had brought them through.

Girlfriends, it's hard to imagine how a person who hears from the Lord, and is supposed to be following the Lord can draw to anyone but the Lord. Growing up I remember hearing the odd time about palm readings and tea leaf readings, I didn't really know what they were or understand them, but I knew enough or felt in my spirit to stay away from such things. There is only one person who knows our beginnings to the end,(Isaiah 46:9-11) and that is the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, because He is the creator of all things.(Gen.1:1, John 1:3)

Psalm 145:18 tells us that the Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. James 4:8 says to draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double minded. James 1:5 says "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him."

We always have a choice of who we are going to draw near to, God which is the light or to the dark side, but we cannot go both ways for that would be called "double-mindedness." We are living in a time where there is so many different powers we'll say, that is drawing people in, we need to be very careful of what we are allowing to draw us in. When we are serving the Lord we are to be drawn or led by His still small voice and that is it. If things are not lining up with His word, then we are to stay away from it.

Girlfriends, if you know someone who is serving the Lord and they are mixed up in some of these things, be a friend to them and show them in the word of God what He says about it. We need to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves as it tells us in Matt. 10:16, because there are many wolves out there parading around in sheep's clothing, and as sad as it is to say, they are in the body of Christ. We need to be aware and stay awake to everything and everyone around us, Amen?, Amen.

Father God, I thank you for a beautiful day, and I praise your holy name. Lord, I thank you for the strength that I draw from you every time I open your word. Lord, I know that you are where my help comes from, my strength comes from and my joy. Lord, I pray for each one today that whatever situation they are facing, that they would know that you are as close to them as the mention of your name as they call out to you, you are right there. Lord, I thank you that you are our guide, through all things, every problem and situation. Lord as we lift up our eyes to you, we know that you hear us and you are there with each and every one who draws from your spirit. Lord, I thank you in advance for bringing each one through their situations triumphantly, for they already have the victory in Jesus Mighty name, Amen.
