But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look on his outward appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the LORD sees not as man sees; man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7 ESV

Good Morning Girlfriends:

I'm sure many of us know the story about David, who he was and who he became. He stayed out in the fields during the day watching over the sheep, keeping them safe from any wild animals. Saul had been chosen of God as King, but he was not fulfilling his duty as God had planned, he would not obey God, so God had sent Samuel to Bethlehem to find a man by the name of Jesse. God had told Samuel to take a vial of Olive oil with him, because there would be a young man there that God had chosen as a replacement as the new King of Israel.

Samuel found the house of Jesse, God had told Samuel that He would let him know who He had picked to be King. The first son stood before Samuel, tall and strong, but God said no this is not the one. The next son stood before Samuel strong in stature, but again God had said not this one, and it went on and on down the whole line of seven of Jesse's sons. Samuel has told Jesse that none of these men was the one that God had chosen, so Samuel had to ask if Jesse had another son, which Jesse replied that he did, his youngest son was out in the field tending the sheep. It was then Samuel instructed for the boy to be brought forth.

When David stood before Samuel, he could see that David was a fine looking boy, he could see that he had pleasant eyes. It was then that Samuel heard God say, "this is the one anoint him." Samuel took the vial of olive oil and poured it over David's head and immediately the spirit of God came upon David, which Samuel and David's whole family was a witness to the event. Samuel had left Jesse's house to go back to Ramah. It was noted that God's spirit had indeed left Saul as he was no longer King.

Girlfriends, time and time again we can look in the mirror and as we are glancing at ourselves we may not see what God sees in us. We may think how God use me, I'm too little, I'm too shy, I don't have the nicest clothes like some people do, my vocabulary is not the best, but we need to put all of that aside because to God those things do not matter. God sees past all of that and He zero's right in to the heart, that is what He is looking at is our heart. God knows our each and every though, He knows what our true intentions are which is found in Heb. 4:12. Proverbs 15:3 tells us that God's eyes are in every place, He watches on the evil and the good. 1 John 4:16 tells us now that we have come to know and believe the love of God has for us, and that God is love, that whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

Girlfriends, if God sees all good and evil, He knows our thoughts and intentions of our heart, if what we convey to Him and the world is love, He knows it. So as it was that God had chosen David to be King and told Samuel to anoint him, the same is with us, God is the one who chooses and anoints the person He chooses to use. 2 Cor. 1:21-22 says it like this, " And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his spirit in our hearts as a guarantee." So in saying that, it is truly God who chooses who He wants to use for building His kingdom. So the next time you look into the mirror and think that you cannot be used, let God be the judge of that, He truly knows the heart of man and woman.

When David was called forth, I'm sure his family was thinking that what could a young boy who tended sheep do, how could he ever be King, but that was not for them to determine but God himself already saw David's heart and He had a plan, which we already know in the Bible a few years later David became King, He was God's chosen and anointed one. So the next time we look into the mirror, instead of saying, "I'm too short, I'm to big, I have too many tattoos, I wear too much make-up, my speech is not clear, let's remember that those things do not matter, let God determine whether we can be used for His glory, all we have to do is step forward when we are called, and be open and obedient when God calls us. He knows if our heart is right or not or He wouldn't have chosen us. We may not do everything right all of the time, we may mess things up but when your heart is in the right place and you have good intentions, that is what matters most, so let's stop picking ourselves apart and step up and say yes to God.

Let's Pray,

Father God, I am so thankful that You alone are God. Lord I thank You that You see us so much different than we see ourselves. Lord when we give our life over to You, we are not the same person anymore, we are a new creation because of You. Lord I lift up that person who is reading this today that doesn't think that they are good enough, or that they are too young or too old, I say the devil is a liar and God says you are who He see you to be, that you are good enough to do the work for the Kingdom of God. There is much work to be done, and there is only one you who can do what God needs you to do. So Lord, help each one of us to step up and say yes to You, that we will do what You ask us to do in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

Be blessed and stay blessed, pass the blessings on to those around you.
