For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 ESV
Good Morning Girlfriends:
The iceberg that sank the Titanic April 14, 1912, which had claimed the lives of at least 1,517 people that day. It was estimated to be four hundred feet in length, one hundred feet above the ocean surface, which gave it a one and a half million tonnes in estimated size.
The iceberg had been melting into the water for months prior to the incident. It was estimated that the iceberg was around 1700 feet long and seventy five million tonnes in weight. Research says that 1912 was a bad year, with icebergs reported floating much further south than normal.
A man by the name of "Bigg" wrote in his book, "Icebergs," the presence of extensive ice was widely reported prior to and following the collision. "Bigg" also added that why the number of reaching shipping lanes should vary from year to year in unclear, because there were many factors such as wind directions, the sea currents, and the temperature change.
There was one idea that was noted that the Titanic Iceberg broke from its glacier around 1908, when a mild winter had accelerated melting and had floated south during a much colder winter of 1911-1912. And on that cold day of April 15, 1912 was when the Titanic sank in the North Atlantic Ocean early that April morning, claiming many lives.
Girlfriends, when we think about it, it's easy to look at people and make quick judgments about them, about their present and their past, but we would be amazed at the pain and the tears a single smile hides. What a person shows to the world is only one tiny facet of an iceberg hidden from sight. And more often than not, it's lines with cracks and scars that go all the way to the foundation of their soul.
Have we ever taken the time to stop and wonder when meeting a homeless person walking around with their cart full of everything that they have, how they got that way, what horrible incidents in their life brought them to such a lowly and lonely place. What is the depth of their story, and the same for the alcoholic who needs that drink of whatever just to get through each day, what is their story, it goes way deeper than what the surface shows.
Behind any smile that a person can give, there are many layers of hurt that is going on that the naked eye cannot see, things that are unseen, but girlfriends, we hold the secret to the thing that is eternal that we can share. We have to remember, we were once one of them, our story may not be quite the same but we were once one of the hurting, one of the lost, one of the down trodden.
There may be some of you out there today that are one of these people who are hurting and suffering, but know that it will seem small in comparison to the glory you will see one sweet day, cling to that promise that is found in Romans 8:18. There is a greater promise that has been given to us as well found in Revelation 21:4 that says, "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." Praise God, how amazing is that promise to hold onto, no more tears, no more death, no more pain we will have to suffer, when we give our life to Jesus we are promised these things, what an awesome God He truly is.
Psalm 38:17-18 says, "For I am ready to fall, and my pain is ever before me. I confess my iniquity; I am sorry for my sin." When we confess our sin to the Lord He is faithful to forgive us when we lay it all down, when we give ourselves over to Him. There are many hurting people out there, with a story behind a story that need to hear the good news that Jesus has to offer them. We are the carriers of the good new, so let's share His love to those that are hurting, those who are homeless, those who are down trodden and to those who are lost because they haven't met the one who can help them. Let's give them Jesus, Amen.
Let's Pray,
Father God, I praise You Lord for You are wonderful and You alone are worthy to be praised because there is no other that is worthy. Lord I lift up each and every dear, sweet soul who hurting and that has never met you yet and taken You as their personal Savior. Lord I am asking that You would visit each and every one of them, so that they would each have their own divine experience with You Lord. Reveal Yourself to them in Your own special way that You do, so that they would have a testimony to tell of how You divinely visited them in a very special way, so that they will have a different kind of story to tell. Lord, I am believing for miracles upon miracles for each individual that Your touch is all that it takes, in order for them to have a story to share with others that nobody can take away from them, in the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
Be blessed dear ones and pass the blessings on.
