What's Your Name?

Good Morning Girlfriends:

Becoming new parents, it's always so exciting to wonder if you are going to have a boy or a girl, as the book of baby names is shuffled through over and over, trying to pick out just the right name that both parents can agree upon. A name may come up in a movie or a new show that may click with a persons spirit, neighbors down the street may have a child that has a name one may tend to lean towards, but what is in a name?

Many of us just picked a name that was cute or a name that would be suitable for when they are young and as they grew older as well, but did we ever look up the meaning behind a child's name. Let's look at a few examples behind some names that would be good names for a sweet little one. Oliver sounds like a cute name, it means "Descendant from the ancestor." Jasper is an older name which means "Treasure." Silas is a name from the Bible and it means "Man of the forest." Here's a baby girls name "Aurora meaning "Dawn." What about the name "Charlotte, it means free." Here's another name for a baby girl, "Luna which means moon."

Most parents, when they are picking out a name for their child want a name that is cute and fitting for what they think the child may look like, in some cases there may be names that do not have quite so nice of a meaning behind it. This is a cute name "Cecilia" but the meaning behind it is "blind," not such a great meaning. How about "Deirdre" which means "sorrowful or sad one." This name for a little boy is cute "Brennan," but the meaning is "sorrow or sadness." Wow, here's one "Samael" meaning "blindness of God, venom of God." As a parent it is very important to take time to research the names and what they mean, these are names being put on children and we would want only good meanings behind our little ones name, not like this last one "Dracul," meaning "dragon or devil," I'm sure a parent would not want this for their little one.

Girlfriends, here are some names that we can never go wrong when we call upon them or speak these names out, and here are some examples of the names of Jesus and what they mean. "Almighty One".. who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty. (Rev. 1:8) "Alpha and Omega" .. I am the Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. (Rev. 22:13) He is our "Advocate" .. "My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have advocate with the Father-Jesus Christ, the Righteous One."( 1 John 2:1) Jesus is called "The Bread Of Life" .. (John 6:35) He is the "Beloved Son of God" (Matthew 3:17) Jesus is our "Deliverer .. ( 1 Thess 1:10) He is the "Good Shepherd" .. ( John 10:11) Jesus is the "Head of the Church" .. ( Ephes. 1:22) He is the great "I Am" .. ( John 8:58) He is "Immanuel" .. ( Isaiah 7:14) He is our "Judge" (Acts 10:42) He is the "King of Kings" .. ( Rev. 17:14) He is our "Messiah" .. ( John 1:41) He is our "Redeemer" .. ( Job 19:25) Our "Risen Lord" .. ( 1 Cor. 15:3-4) And Jesus is our "Rock".. ( 1 Cor. 10:4) But most of all He is our "Savior" .. ( Luke 2:11) in which we can call upon at any time in trouble, in a time of need, when we need saving, we call upon the name of "JESUS!" There is no there name which saves but that name.

Let's never forget that name, and let's share His name wherever we go, with who ever we meet, and share what He can do for other people. Let's get His name out there far and wide. Each day let's look at it that we are on a mission.

Father God, I am so thank for the name of Jesus in which I can call upon at any time. Lord You saved me so many years ago by someone sharing Your name with me. Lord help each one of us today, whoever is reading this, share Your name and Your love with other who may have never met You yet, who is the need of a Savior, who may in the need of being saved from themselves. Lord continue to give us courage to share the gospel with every individual from far and wide, whoever You may put in our path, let us share Your love with them and what You can do for them in the mighty name of Jesus. You alone are worthy, Amen.
