"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?" Matthew 6:25 NIV
Good Morning Girlfriends:
The weekend was here, "Yes" I thought, as plans had been made to get together with friends for our night of board game fun. It was always something we, as three couples got together, looked forward to each weekend to relax with lots of laughter in the mix. Saturdays was always a full day of reading down the newspaper to see how many yard sales, my best friend and I could hit. Sometimes Saturday night could involve a movie or two, sometimes with another couple or with our children, depending on everyone's schedule. Sundays were always a time of resting, and family time as we prepared for another week to begin.
None of that was going to happen this weekend, when my husband let me know he was leaving, he needed space, time to think, leaving me feeling like the anchor had just dropped. No explanation really, his things were already packed and out the door he went to "I don't know where." That was it, just like that! My mind raced trying to figure out where all of this had come from, what had just happened, as I was left with the children to come up with an explanation.
All I could do is cry the whole weekend, in and out, up and down I felt like I was on a roller coaster ride and I wanted off. Anxiety began to set in as my thoughts wandered, "what will I do, how can I do this alone?" I was so thankful for my best friend, she talked with me for hours it seemed, she still came over to take us out to yard sales, to keep my mind off of everything, but my mind would wander back to my situation.
These were the days before I was living for the Lord, I didn't know anything about what His word said, I didn't know anything about standing on His word, believing in His promises that He has for each of us, but now I do and I can tell you that when you truly get a hold of God's word and what it says, God is speaking to each and every individual the same. Let's look at our key verse and what it says in Matt. 6:26-34. We are reminded that we do not have to worry about what we will eat or drink, or what we will wear, God will take care of us. He goes on to say that the birds do sow or reap, they do not store things away to save up, but yet God takes care of them with food and shelter. He then asks the question, when we worry about our situations, will that change anything, no it won't, it just causes us to fret and fear.
Verse 28 says, why worry about clothes, the flowers grow in the field, they do not labor or spin but yet God takes care of them, and even in all of King Solomon's splendor was dressed like the flowers. God also continues on to say if God takes care of the flowers and the birds, because He created them, then how much more will He take care or provide for us, we are His children. He also let's us know that He knows all of the things that we need in life, we are to seek Him for these things, He is the one who provides, so therefore we do not have to worry about these things, God will take care of us. It is God who is our provider, and it is He who will send in the provision such as, a friend who may bring a bag of clothes or food, a connection may be made for a job that will support the family.
Girlfriends, God will always supply our every need, no matter what, we just have to seek Him. He wants us to ask Him, He's our heavenly father who wants to help us. His word says we receive not because we ask not, found in James 4:2, He will answer when there is a need, it's different than a want. When we need something, did we not go to our earthly father growing up, when we had to ask him for something, it's the same way with our heavenly father, we have to ask.
There are many times we will go through hard times and struggles, things will come at us that we did not expect, but we have a heavenly father who sees everything that happens before we do. That is why He wants that close relationship with us, so that we will understand just how much He really does love us and takes care of us. When we put our trust too much in man, or people, that is when we will be let down at times but God will never let us down. So let's put our trust in Him and see that we don not have to worry when a situation comes our way, no matter what it is, God is right there with us, (Matt. 1:23, Matt. 18:20, Matt. 28:20) because He is for us, (Psalm 56:9, Rom. 8:31) Amen?
Let's Pray,
Father God, I praise You Lord, You are a good good Father. You are our provider, You are our strength when we feel weak. Lord, You are our strong and mighty tower that we can run to when we are scared or troubled. Lord, You see everything that is going on in each of our lives and You will make a way for us where there seems to be no way in each of our situations. You are the God that knows all things, You see all things and there is nothing that You wouldn't do for each of Your children. Lord, You are the great shepherd who leads us on paths of righteousness when we look to You and follow You, so we thank You Lord, in advance for what You are about to do in each and every situation here today, in the mighty name of Jesus, we thank You, Amen.
Be blessed and pass the blessings on.
