When The Cat Goes Crazy

Suddenly a terrible storm came up, with waves higher than the boat. But Jesus was asleep. Matthew 8:24 TLB

Good Morning Girlfriends:

There are days, and then there are days when my cat goes on a full tilt run up and down the hallway, up and over the furniture, jumping from the couch to the chair, up and over the back of the other chair, taking a half of a second to stop to look at me as he scratches off on another full out run up and down the hall again. What in the world is that all about? I remember people talking about when a cat acts like that, it usually means a storm is on it's way. There is a shift in the altitude of the atmosphere, and animals can sense it, so it puts them into a spin, so to say. If you have ever noticed or watched cows in a field, if they are laying down it too usually means a storm is coming.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could see ahead of time when a storm comes our way, if we could have a little warning, then maybe we could be prepared. Sometimes there are storms that come and we are totally blind sided by them and we didn't see them coming. Who would ever think, that after twenty five years of marriage, one partner would say that they want out of the marriage, one would certainly not see that coming, or your boss calls you into the office, and you are handed your walking papers because you are being accused of an incident that you did not even do. How about you decided to start up walking to help you to lose weight, so you start walking with a couple of friends and your husband thinks something else is up and it cause a ruckus, so you stop your exercising to stop a fight from happening.

Girlfriends, even though we do not see the storms coming at us at times, God wants us to rest assure that He is with us in our storm and He will help guide us through it. In Isaiah 4:6 it tells us that there will be a shelter to give shade from the heat by day, and refuge and protection from the storm and the rain. Jesus is that protection and that refuge. Psalm 89:8-9 tells us that there is no one who is mightier than God is. God is the one who controls the ocean when their waves arise in fearful storms, when He speaks they are still.

Whether we know when a storm is about to come our way or not, God wants us to trust in Him, that He will be there with us to ride it out and He will take us through to the other side of it. We are never the same person when we come through a storm, we are stronger because of it. Think about a storm that you have already come through, and think about how it has made you a better person because of it, stronger, more alert to certain things. Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, but it's about learning to dance in the rain. That means we are putting our trust in God and we can praise Him as we come through it. It is so much easier if we can trust God and let Him navigate us through the storms of life.

Let's Pray,

Dear Heavenly Father, Whether we go through a big storm or a little one, it is hard at times. Lord help each of us to put our complete trust in you, knowing that you are with us, you are there to help guide us to get to the other side of our situations. Lord your word tells us that you will never fail us if we keep our eyes on you and not the storm, so help us to look upward, and stay focused, in the Mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

Be blessed, and pass the blessings on.
