I have told you all this so that you will have peace of heart and mind. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows; but cheer up, for I have overcome the world. John 16:33 The Living Bible
Good Morning Girlfriends:
Every morning when I get up to start my day, I like to stop at the back door of my home to look at the back yard where I am believing for a new house to be built. Looking around at the trees that had been taken down over the last few years, the yard is still left with those little spindly "brush of a tree," but not really a tree. When I took a closer look at them, I noticed they were already budded with little green leaves, and only a few days ago they were still dead looking. I thought," wow the green is popping out all over the place." I began to chuckle to myself as my mind went to that children's game called "Whack a Mole," as I thought about when the little mole would pop it's little head up, you would have to bonk them on the head as quick as you could. It was a good game for speed and coordination for one's mind to stay concentrated on which hole they would pop up next.
After making my morning coffee, that led me reading a woman's testimony of her bike riding journey and meeting a snake. She started out by saying that she was getting older in years, and she wanted to start riding her bike again to keep her body in shape and limbered up. She started out on small excursions with her son, as they rode for shorter jaunts at first, then building up to riding a mile then working her way up to two miles. Working up to mile two, her son decided he wouldn't be continuing on with his mother, so he turned back, as she continued trying to get in another four or five miles.
She decided to take another path that would be fairly easy for her to endure the ride, with fewer hills, because had a knee that wouldn't allow her full extension to stand in order to climb big hills. As she approached the automated crosswalk, all traffic was stopped, she thought it would be an easy way through, until she saw a snake rise it's head up on the left side of the sidewalk. On the right side of her was a big hole, thoughts were racing through her mind of what she was going to do, because she did not want to take a chance of standing up to go faster and the snake biting her ankle.
She decided because she was going at such a quick pace, that she would have to just lift her legs up in the air in case the snake wanted to strike, praying to God that she could sail right through, past the snake and the traffic. She continued to sail right on through, missing the snake, over to the other part of the sidewalk. It was then, that she thought she had enough of the nature trail for one day, that she decided to take a different route, as she scooted back home. Arriving home, she told her daughter of the experience she had just endured, that was when her daughter reminded her that had been the second time she had encountered a snake that lifted its head.
In this lady's testimony she shared that in both cases of seeing those snakes, she had seen them ahead of time before she was even close to them, as they had raised up their head. Girlfriends, isn't that just like us in our lives, we can be living, doing life like we usually do and the enemy rears up his ugly head and tries to attack us with some thing or another. We have to be like the children in that game, who are whacking the moles so fast before they pop down into their little holes, we have to be on guard at all times, with eyes all around our head like the fly. The enemy is sneaky like that, he waits till life is rolling along just nicely, then that is when he will attack us by throwing something at us we weren't expecting. It could be a job loss, a friend or a family member passing away, a major disappointment, a fall that causes an injury, whatever the case may be, we have to be on guard with the word of God, in order to know how to fight back and give him a good "whack" on the head to knock him back down.
Girlfriends, we have the power that will knock the enemy back down his hole, and that is the word of God, when we pick that Bible up in our hands and declare out loud what God's word says, like "No weapon formed against me shall proper,"(Isaiah 54:17) "The gates of hell shall not prevail against me," (Matt. 16:17-19) "devil you are defeated." (Luke 10:18) We also need to remind the devil that he is a liar and where his destiny is, (Rev. 20:10) so when we follow Christ and resist the devil he will flee from us. (James 4:7) As our key verse says that trouble will come our way, the devil will come at us because he is mad that we no longer serve him but we now serve God. The bible also tells us that we need to be watchful, because the enemy is out there prowling, seeking who he may devour, so when we take our position, and stand on guard with the word of God, we can give the enemy a good bonk on the head and a great big black eye, Amen?
Let's Pray,
Father God, I praise You this morning, for You are an amazing God and You are so good to us. I thank You for Your word, for Your love and Your mercy that You show us each and every day. Lord, Your word is powerful when we speak it out, when we declare it over situations that come our way, as the enemy tries to attack us, all we have to is hit the enemy with Your word and he has to back up and flee. I thank You Lord, that You have given us authority over the devil, and that he is powerless against Your living word. For that dear soul that is being hit with a situation, remember you have authority over him, he is under your feet and he is already defeated in the mighty, mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
Be blessed dear ones and pass the blessing on to others that come in your path today. Share your testimony, as that shares the power of God working in you.
