And they have not rooted in themselves, but endure for a while, when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately they fall away. Mark 4:17 ESV
Good Morning Girlfriends:
Over a year ago, I was introduced to a lady who was having renovations done on her house, we began talking about children, family and where we grew up as a child, that seemed to be the easiest way to start a conversation as we were strangers to each other. She began telling me a little about who her parents were and how many siblings she had, and where she had grew up as she continued to explain what had brought her to this area to live.
As I began to share a few things about my background and who my family was, where my grandparents had came from on my mothers side, this lady began to wonder if there could be some kind of family connection between her and I. Both of us finding it all so fascinating, we began to try to dig a little deeper into our memory banks, thinking of names of people, places to figure out what connection there could be. This lady had said she had been going through some old pictures that she had came across, as we sat together looking through them, she had found a large picture of her grandmother as a young lady, and when she looked at me, the words that came out of her mouth kind of surprised me when she said, "you look like my grandmother," as she went on to explain that we had the same high cheek bones, the same round face, our eyes and all the features were so remarkably the same. We later had discussed about purchasing a ancestry kit to see if we were related.
Girlfriends, how many times have you began talking to someone and you start to mention names of so and so and the other person will say, "oh I'm related to that person," and then someone will say, "It sure is a small world." It is very interesting to dig into our history of life to find out the background of our individual family roots and who we are connected to.
There are other roots that are very important in our lives as well, how well are we rooted in the Word of God and all of the things that He teaches and promises us. Getting rooted means we have to read the scriptures, as we continue to read more and more often we begin to get rooted in God's word so that we understand it more and believe what His word says. Our key verse today is saying that when situations, or difficult times come our way, and if we are not grounded in God's word, that we will not be able to stand, we tend to fall away from God, living for Him because we don't understand His word or we are not deeply rooted in what His word is telling us. If a seed is not planted deeply in the ground, and it is just sitting on top of the soil, it has a good chance to be blown away, and that's the same way it is for us.
Colossians 2:6-7 tells us that when we have received Christ Jesus, we are to walk with Him, read His word to get deep understanding in what He is saying, so that we will become rooted in Him and we will be built up in our faith so that the pressure of life will not just blow us away, we will be rooted in order to stand the tests and trials in life. When a tree has been planted near a stream, just think about its roots, and how it would have the water nearby to draw on in order to help that tree grow bigger and stronger in order to stand in all kinds of weather. God's word, the Bible is our food source that we digest each time we pick up our Bible and read the scriptures.
God wants each one of to thrive on His word, to hunger and thirst after His word, just like a tree would be dry and thirsty after being out in scorching weather, we too should be thirsty for God's word in order to know what it says for every situation that we go through in life, that is how we keep our roots watered is with the word. The richer the soil, the better a seed will grow, of course with some water. God's word is rich, with promise after promise and revelation after revelation for each of us. Let's continue to dig deep and get rooted in all of the promises that God has for each and every one of us, Amen?
Let's Pray,
Father God, You are rich in love and mercy and I am thankful for all of Your wonderful promises that are in Your word for each and every individual. Lord help each one of us to dig deeper into the soil of Your Word, Lord I pray that new revelations will be brought out to us each time we dig into Your word. Lord, help each one to stay strong through the storms of life, help us Lord to stay focused on the one who on life's journey with us, which is You Almighty God. Lord, Your word is truth, Your word is alive so there is no possible way that Your word can fail. Your word will never come back void, for what Your promises is the truth and I thank You for giving us Your word to get rooted in, in Jesus name I pray.
Be blessed dear ones and stay blessed. Pass the blessings on.
