Since we have such a huge crowd of men of faith watching us from the grandstands, let us strip off anything that slows us down or holds us back, and especially those sins that wrap themselves so tightly around our feet and trip us up, and let us run with patience the particular race that God has set before us. Hebrews 12:1 The Living Bible.
Good Morning Girlfriends:
As summer break was fast approaching for the children who attended school, the daycare that I worked at were getting a summer program ready for those children that would join us at the daycare. Walks along the riverbanks in our little town was on the list of fun things to do, as well as nature hunts to see what different things they may find along their outings, camping gear was brought in by some adults for the children to set up camp in the back yard for some summer time fun, and there was always a week that the children could bring their bikes as they would have different activities to with other children.
During the summer break there was always a week that was planned with all kids of fun and crazy games to be played. Ring toss, the horse shoe game was set up, relay races were amongst the games with a huge obstacle course to go through was always fun for everyone. On those hot sunny days the slippery slide was brought out for much water fun, so the children could get cooled of or to the local town pool we would go. There was a game that the educators would throw in the mix of it all and it was called the three legged race, where two children were tied together at the ankles with a scarf or something and they would have to work together trying to make it all the way down the field to the finish line. Of course it wasn't only two children playing, there was a whole line up of children who would be in the race to see who would make it to the finish line first.
As the horn blew, all of the children were off on a pretty good start at first until they tried to pick up speed they would be down to the ground. The children who did not join in for the race was the group that was cheering them on as they slowly proceeded down the field as they tripped over each other, sometimes it seemed they were down more than they were up, as giggles and squeals continued for an exciting race. There were always a few that would give up during the race and there were the few that continued to press on the best that they could, until there was a winner at the finish line. There was usually a little prize at the end for the pair that stuck through it to the end.
Girlfriends, each and every one of us are in the race we call life, some of us are doing better than others, some may be up and some may be down depending where we are at in our lives. If any of you has ever tried the three legged race, you know how difficult it is to be tied at the ankles with another person, it takes great skill to be able to work together, walk together, or to maneuver any distance without falling over one another. Being tied together sure can have its challenges but it can also have its benefits as well.
In our game we call life, it may be difficult to learn how to work with your partner, your spouse to live life on a daily basis, but think if one was to fall, say you were having a bad day, your partner is there to help talk you through what you may have encountered at your work place, or with the person at the supermarket, or what may have happened with one of your children, they are your support system. What if you do not have that significant other to fall on, what do you do then when you are faced with a challenge in life. That is when you would go to the Lord and His word to see what He says on the matter that you face. You can call upon a good friend or the Pastor of your church, someone that will pray with you or give you good sound advice to help you through, so that you feel strong enough to stand on your own two feet.
God's word tell us in Hebrews 12:2 to keep our eyes on Jesus, our leader and instructor. He was willing to die a shameful death on the cross because of the joy He knew would be his afterwards; and now He sits in the place of honor by the throne of God. We as well have that promise to look towards, being in heaven with our heavenly father and to see all of our loved ones who has went on before us. In verse three of Hebrews 12 it ells us that Jesus himself went through many trials and temptations, He was treated cruel as terrible things happened to Him, to such a degree that He sweat drops of blood.
Girlfriends, God knows and sees everything that we go through and His word promises us that He is with us through every situation that we face. (Isaiah 41:10, Joshua 1:9, Deut. 31:6, Matthew 28:20) That is something to rejoice about, knowing we are not alone in this race of life, Jesus has went before us to prepare the way, we just have to walk in it, Amen? Keep looking up girlfriends, keep pressing on and do the best that you can, and if you fall, Jesus is right there by your side to help you along life's way.
Let's Pray,
Father God, I thank You Lord, that You are always with us through life's journey. Lord, I'm thankful that if we fall, You are always right there to help us get back up on our feet. Lord, You strengthen us, empower us to keep going the extra mile. No matter how many times we may feel weak Your word encourages us to press on until the final day that You call us home to be with You. Lord, help us to help others along the way that may be going through hard times. Let us speak words of encouragement, Your words of truth over them in the mighty name of Jesus to help push them on to stay strong in their fight we call life in Jesus name, Amen.
Be blessed dear ones and pass the blessings on.
